Other forms of actinomycosis - what does this mean

Other forms of actinomycosis are caused by a variety of bacteria, most commonly actinomyces israelii. these bacteria enter the body through wounds or breaks in the skin and can spread through the body, causing localized abscesses and tissue destruction. in some cases, the bacteria can spread to other organs and cause systemic infection.

What happens during the disease - other forms of actinomycosis

Other forms of actinomycosis are caused by anaerobic bacteria that infect the body and cause a chronic, granulomatous infection. these bacteria usually enter the body through a break in the skin or through the respiratory or gastrointestinal tract, and can spread to other organs and tissues. the infection can cause abscesses, fistulas, and sinus tracts, and can be difficult to treat due to the slow-growing nature of the bacteria. treatment usually involves antibiotics and surgical drainage of any abscesses.
