Early syphilis - what does this mean

Early syphilis is caused by a bacterial infection with the spirochete treponema pallidum, which is usually transmitted through sexual contact. it can also be passed from mother to child during pregnancy or at birth. symptoms may include a single chancre (painless ulcer) at the site of infection, enlarged lymph nodes, flu-like symptoms, and a rash. if left untreated, the disease can progress to the late stages of syphilis.
