Ascariasis - what does this mean

Ascariasis is a type of intestinal infection caused by the ascaris lumbricoides roundworm. it is contracted by ingesting contaminated food or water, or by contact with soil containing the roundworm eggs. once ingested, the eggs hatch in the small intestine, releasing larvae that migrate through the body until they mature in the small intestine, where they lay eggs that are passed in the feces.
