Lambert-eaton syndrome - what does this mean

Lambert-eaton syndrome is an autoimmune disorder caused by antibodies attacking the nerve cells responsible for releasing acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that is important for muscle movement. this leads to muscle weakness, fatigue, and other symptoms.

What happens during the disease - lambert-eaton syndrome

Lambert-eaton syndrome is an autoimmune disorder caused by an immune response against the voltage-gated calcium channels in the neuromuscular junction. this results in a decrease in the release of neurotransmitters, leading to a decrease in muscle strength and reflexes. the antibodies produced by the immune system can also lead to the formation of autoantibodies which can affect the production of acetylcholine, further exacerbating the symptoms of lambert-eaton syndrome.
