What happens during the disease - schmorl nodes
Schmorl nodes are caused by a herniation of the intervertebral disc into the vertebral body, causing a defect in the endplate of the vertebra and an accumulation of nucleus pulposus in the adjacent vertebral body. this can be caused by trauma, degenerative disc disease, or congenital defects in the endplate.
