Chondrolysis - what does this mean

Chondrolysis is a rare condition that occurs when the cartilage in a joint slowly breaks down, resulting in pain, swelling, and limited range of motion. it is usually caused by trauma or excessive strain on the joint, but can also be caused by infection or a reaction to certain medications.

What happens during the disease - chondrolysis

Chondrolysis is a degenerative disorder of the joints caused by the destruction of the articular cartilage. it is typically caused by an interruption of the blood supply to the joint, leading to the death of the chondrocytes that make up the cartilage. this can be due to a traumatic injury, joint surgery, or the use of certain medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. the resulting loss of cartilage leads to pain, stiffness, and a decrease in the range of motion of the affected joint.

Chondrolysis - Prevention

Chondrolysis can be prevented by avoiding activities that cause excessive stress on the joints, such as repetitive motions or heavy lifting, and by maintaining a healthy weight. additionally, wearing protective gear when engaging in activities that could cause joint damage can help to protect the joint cartilage from harm.
