Primary dysmenorrhoea - what does this mean

Primary dysmenorrhoea is a common gynecological condition characterized by painful cramping in the lower abdomen during menses. it is caused by the release of prostaglandins from the endometrium which cause the uterus to contract and lead to the painful cramping. it is most common in adolescent girls and can be treated with lifestyle modifications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and hormonal contraception.

What happens during the disease - primary dysmenorrhoea

Primary dysmenorrhoea is caused by an excessive release of prostaglandins during the menstrual cycle, which leads to an increase in uterine contractions and an increase in pain. this can cause the uterus to become overly sensitive to the prostaglandins, resulting in increased pain during menstruation. additionally, an underlying condition such as endometriosis can also contribute to the increased pain felt during primary dysmenorrhoea.
