Atrophic stripes (striae)

If you experience any symptoms, please consult a doctor (Atrophic lines, Atrophy strips, Striae atrophicae, Atrophic furrows, Skin striae, White striae, Scar-like striae, Stretch marks, Pale striae)

Atrophic stripes (striae) are linear, narrow, white or silver-colored lines that appear on the skin. They often start as red or purple lines, but fade over time. These stripes usually appear on the abdomen, thighs, hips, arms, and breasts. They are caused by the stretching of the skin due to rapid weight gain or loss, pregnancy, or certain medications. They can also be caused by certain medical conditions such as Cushing's syndrome. Atrophic stripes can be itchy and uncomfortable, but they do not cause any physical harm.
