Blepharospasm is a condition characterized by involuntary twitching of the eyelids. It usually starts with intermittent spasms, and can progress to frequent, forceful spasms that can cause the eyelids to remain closed for several seconds. It is often accompanied by sensitivity to light and pain in the area. In severe cases, it can cause vision problems and difficulty speaking. Treatment includes medications, Botox injections, and surgery.
