(Depersonalization, Unreality, Detachment, Alienation, Disconnection, Estrangement, Surrealism, Vagueness, Unfamiliarity, Impersonalness)

Derealization is a symptom of anxiety and depression characterized by a feeling of detachment from one's environment, as if everything is a dream or a fog. It can manifest as a feeling of being disconnected from reality, a feeling of being an observer of one's own life, and a feeling of being detached from one's own body. Symptoms may develop gradually over time, or they may occur suddenly, sometimes in response to a traumatic event. The intensity of the symptom can vary from mild to severe.
