Visual impairment is a decrease in the ability to see, either partial or complete. It can develop gradually or suddenly, and can be caused by a variety of conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Symptoms can include blurry vision, difficulty seeing in dim light, difficulty distinguishing colors, and blind spots. In more severe cases, a person may be completely unable to see. Treatment options vary depending on the cause of the impairment.
