Acute intoxication is a sudden, intense intoxication caused by the consumption of large amounts of alcohol or drugs. Symptoms may include slurred speech, confusion, impaired coordination, nausea, and vomiting. As the intoxication progresses, the individual may become more disoriented and may experience visual or auditory hallucinations. In severe cases, coma or death may occur.
