Seal on the neck

A seal on the neck is a common symptom of an infection. It is a raised, red, swollen area of skin that feels warm to the touch. It may be accompanied by pain, tenderness, and/or itching. The area may also ooze fluid or pus. The seal usually develops over the course of several days and can range in size from a small dime-sized bump to a large, raised area. It can be a sign of a bacterial or viral infection, such as strep throat, or a fungal infection, such as ringworm.
