Urinary retention is a condition in which an individual is unable to empty their bladder completely, resulting in an accumulation of urine in the bladder. Symptoms can include a feeling of fullness in the bladder, pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen, frequent urination, and difficulty passing urine. It can develop gradually over time or come on suddenly, and can range from mild to severe. Treatment varies depending on the cause and severity of the condition, and may include medications, lifestyle changes, and/or surgery.
