Hare lip

Hare lip is a congenital deformity where the two sides of the upper lip fail to fuse together correctly. It is characterized by a gap in the upper lip, a notch in the nose, and a cleft in the gum line. It can range from a mild notch to a major cleft that extends into the nose. It can also affect the teeth and the roof of the mouth. It can develop before or after birth and can be unilateral or bilateral. Treatment typically involves surgery to repair the lip and nose, followed by orthodontic treatment and speech therapy.
