Taeniasis is an infection caused by tapeworms of the species taenia saginata and taenia solium, which is acquired by consuming raw or undercooked beef or pork containing the larvae of the tapeworms. it is also possible to acquire the infection through contact with the feces of an infected person, which contains the eggs of the tapeworms.
