Mitral stenosis with insufficiency occurs when the mitral valve of the heart becomes narrowed and thickened, reducing the amount of blood that can flow through the valve and causing blood to back up in the left atrium. this can lead to a decrease in blood flow to the rest of the body, as well as an increase in pressure in the left atrium which can cause the valve to leak, resulting in mitral valve insufficiency.

What happens during the disease - mitral stenosis with insufficiency

Mitral stenosis with insufficiency is a condition caused by the narrowing of the mitral valve, which is located between the left atrium and left ventricle of the heart. this narrowing causes the valve to not open properly, resulting in a decrease in the amount of blood that is able to flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle. this decrease in blood flow can lead to an increase in pressure in the left atrium, which can cause the mitral valve to leak, leading to a decrease in the amount of oxygen-rich blood that is able to reach the rest of the body.
