Chronic pharyngitis can be prevented by avoiding irritants such as smoking, air pollution, and dry air, and by drinking plenty of fluids to keep the throat moist. it is also important to practice good oral hygiene, including brushing teeth twice a day and flossing daily, and to get regular check-ups from a doctor.
