Placenta praevia - what does this mean

Placenta praevia occurs when the placenta attaches to the lower part of the uterus and covers all or part of the cervix, potentially blocking the baby's exit from the uterus. it is more common in women who have had multiple pregnancies, have had a cesarean section, have had a uterine surgery, or have a large uterus.

What happens during the disease - placenta praevia

Placenta praevia is a condition in which the placenta is located very low in the uterus, partially or completely covering the cervix. this condition is believed to be caused by abnormal implantation of the placenta during early pregnancy, typically due to an abnormally shaped uterus or an abnormally shaped placenta. in some cases, it can be caused by scarring of the uterus from previous surgeries or infections.
