Shock is a life-threatening medical condition in which the body is deprived of adequate blood flow and oxygen. It is characterized by pale, cool, and clammy skin, rapid and shallow breathing, weak and rapid pulse, confusion, and loss of consciousness. Shock can be caused by severe injury, infection, loss of blood, or severe allergic reaction. It can progress quickly and can lead to organ failure. Early recognition and treatment is essential.
