Ectopic kidney - what does this mean

Ectopic kidney is a congenital condition in which one or both of the kidneys are located outside of their normal position in the abdomen. this is caused by abnormal development of the kidneys during fetal development, resulting in the kidneys not being able to move into the pelvis and instead being located in the lower abdomen, near the groin, or elsewhere in the body.

What happens during the disease - ectopic kidney

The pathogenesis of ectopic kidney is thought to be due to an abnormality in the development of the urinary tract during fetal development. this abnormality can lead to the kidney being positioned in an abnormal location, such as the bladder, the abdomen, or the pelvis, instead of the normal location in the retroperitoneum. this can lead to a variety of complications, including urinary tract obstruction, infections, and hydronephrosis.
