Anal fissures

Anal fissures are small cuts or tears in the thin, moist tissue of the lower rectum. They often cause sharp pain and bleeding during bowel movements. They can develop from straining during bowel movements, frequent diarrhea, or childbirth. Symptoms may include itching, burning, and pain during or after bowel movements.
