Pain in the pancreas is usually a sharp, burning sensation in the upper abdomen that can radiate to the back. It can start abruptly and last for several minutes to several hours. It may worsen after eating or drinking alcohol and can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and fever. Pain can be mild to severe, and may be worse when lying down. It can also be accompanied by abdominal swelling, jaundice, and weight loss.
