Acute periodontitis - what does this mean

Acute periodontitis is an inflammatory disease of the gums and supporting structures of the teeth caused by bacterial infections. it is characterized by rapid onset of symptoms including swelling of the gums, redness, tenderness, and bleeding. if left untreated, the infection can spread to other parts of the mouth, leading to more severe symptoms and complications.

What happens during the disease - acute periodontitis

Acute periodontitis is an inflammatory disease of the periodontal tissues caused by the accumulation of bacteria in the gingival sulcus or pocket. when the bacteria accumulate in the gingival sulcus, they form a biofilm which triggers an inflammatory response in the surrounding soft tissue and bone. this inflammatory response leads to the destruction of the periodontal tissue, resulting in the formation of periodontal pockets and the eventual loss of the teeth.
