Pneumothorax

Pneumothorax is a condition where air accumulates in the chest cavity between the lungs and chest wall, causing the lungs to collapse. It usually develops suddenly, with the patient experiencing sharp chest pain, shortness of breath, and rapid breathing. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, depending on the amount of air that has accumulated. In severe cases, the patient may experience difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and even shock. Pneumothorax can be caused by trauma to the chest, medical procedures, or underlying lung disease. Treatment may include oxygen therapy, chest tube placement, or surgery.
